25 Years of Organic, Sustainable Farming

John and Celia started farming organically back in 1999 and started selling their organic beef and lamb directly to customers just as the farmers market bandwagon began to roll. Penrhiw is a traditional family hill farm with a herd of Aberdeen Angus cows and a flock of South Wales Mountain ewes both well suited to an organic grass fed system. All the cattle and lambs are finished off grass / haylage / silage and are sold directly via farmers markets / farmgate. 


To expand the range of meat on offer, Penrhiw joined forces with brother Graham and his daughter Ffion who also farm organically at Cefn Coed, Llansannor.and Rhydhalog Newydd, Talygarn. Organically reared eggs, chicken and pork add to the range as well as sausages and bacon. “Penrhiw Farm Organic Meat” has become a proper family business.


Our customer base has grown with our expanded involvement in farmers markets, our produce is much sought after. Customers commend our sustainable methods of farming, our traditionally bred meat has low food miles and is packed full of flavour and quality. It's hard work but it allows traditional family farms to survive and, we hope, thrive.


Cefn Coed are diversifying into cut flowers. Graham and Lindsey have built a polytunnel where Lindsey wiles aways her time tending flower seedlings to grow beautiful blooms for bouquets.
