Hi

The usual reminder of our market whereabouts this coming weekend and what we have to offer.   It's Rhiwbina on Friday and Usk on Saturday with the usual range of fresh Aberdeen Angus beef,  South Wales Mountain lamb, mutton, Welsh Pork.and fresh chickens.   The last chicken for a couple of weeks until the next batch are ready.  Faggots but no pies this week.   Collections from the farm and local deliveries by arrangement.     Graham will be in Rhiwbina market this week - I am fulfilling a promise to Ffi to help her with her pony - I don't miss many !

We are enjoying the lambing "holiday"   -  it seems to be a longer one that usual - the early lambers really got on with the job and they finished in almost record time.  Even Ffi's have finished and they seemed to go on for ever.  There have been 2 litters of piglets recently - the one young sow is an excellent mother taking extreme care not to squash her piglets - gently pushing them out of the way before she flops in a heap.  For the other young sow, motherhood is a chore - minimum fuss and these piglets get in my way !!  Ploughing on Cefn Coed / Fforest has started in earnest now that the ground is drying out  - some new grass leys and a mix of arable crops are planned.  We are very restricted what we can do in the 2 organic conversion years   By next time, lambing and calving will be upon us ....... make the most of the "rest" !
